Episode 30 - Chapter 24 - "Agents of Change"
This episode, Scottie tackles a subject that she'd been hoping to avoid, as she reads from Chapter 24, "Agents of Change," her journal entry regarding a landmark lunch with her agents, (and their first opportunity to meet "Scottie") They'd been killing it for"Scott," enjoying a client who's resume did all the work for them. They merely had to field multiple offers each time Scottie became available for her next gig. Excuse, me, when "he" was available. So, there's no reason to believe that lean days are on the horizon, is there? Scottie's been, as she writes, making daily deposits into the credibility bank, and so can't she spend some of that capital on being herself? Well, once again, it seems Ms. Golightly was her usually overly optimistic self...
"Well, it looked good on paper..."
Okay... the dirty little secret is out. The TV biz, it turns out is (SPOILER ALERT) just as biased and transphobic as every other biz in the world. Scottie isn't one to blame, and yet, it's a reality from which she can no longer hide. As a "creative" in the TV biz, you're only as good as your last job. And Scottie literally went from one job to another without a break... as Scott... making the job easy as pie for her agents. But then, like everyone, who has no idea how to deal with a transgender woman, they chose to "not deal" and "not answer" the phone and "not agent anymore." Thank Gawd for Marcy, who talks Scottie back from the ledge and reminds her things are changing - for the better... soon.
