HALL OF ANGELS, 2017

2017 was a year of growth, expansion, dreams fulfilled, wishes granted and hard work paying off for Zuzubean Press. And we could not have gotten here without the support and grace of you. We have a heavenly host of angels who helped Marcy & Scottie Jeanette achieve their goals of engaging, entertaining and enlightening through Light, Laughter & Love, but it's been our audience, readers and dear friends whose support helped us to spread Zuzubean's message everyday, and for that we are eternally grateful. When we started the year, we set a goal of bringing Zuzubean's Light, Laughter & Love to the professional mental health community, while expanding on our corporate and university audiences. We teamed up with several professionals who helped us create workshops and presentations that fit into the continuing education system to support those on the front lines of transforming lives in the LGBTQIA+ community. We'd like to recap the accomplishments that your generous support helped us achieve, and recognize the aforementioned heavenly hosts that made 2017, despite any difficulties truly, one for the books.

Marcy says her uncompromising "deep dive" into her process for transformation and growth,"helped me heal and celebrate the love and guidance, seen and unseen, I have received in this lifetime." And her team of designer, Adam Waldman, Editors, Clare Newbury and Elena Golden, advance readers, Catherine Parrish, Melissa McWilliams, Tia Sarzoso, Mark Katz, helped Marcy write a book of her life in just one year.

Professor Elizabeth Meehan

Dr. Katz is the amazing director of "Transculturation" for Kaiser West LA, who was instrumental in connecting Scottie Jeanette as a featured speaker for the annual Urology Symposium as well as 15 workshops for Kaiser Permanente Hospitals - Mark's team of Katie Shields, Marty Lasker and Debbie Newman, helped over 3000 KP employees better understand transgender healthcare.

Elizabeth has been a constant cheerleader and supporter of Zuzubean Press, and called on Scottie & Marcy to create a landmark event - enlisting a stellar panel of Josh Gershick, Dr. Alison Taur, Dr. Mitzen Obada Black, Prof. Sean Haggard and Elijah Warren, to conduct two workshops for the faculty & students at SDCC for World Culture's Program "Coming Out Day." As usual, it was the loving arms of Cat Stewart & Craig Warren that made it all possible.

Judy DeSherlia

Judy has been a constant supporter for two years. This year, she introduced us to the fantastic folks at NVPride, the onsite organization that supports the LGBTQIA+ workforce for this tech titan. Marcy & Scottie Jeanette presented their "Running with Unicorns" Workshop at NVIDIA's brand new campus.

Robin Louise Siegel

We have Alexandra Billings to thank for meeting our new BFF Robin, a veteran social worker, professor, and lecturer of social work at USC's Suzanne Dworak-

Peck School of Social Work. Robin was instrumental at getting us invited to the biggest events of our career to date - conducting workshops at both the regional conference of the National Association of Social Workers, and the Annual National Conference of LAGPA.

The incredible staff of the Long Beach LGBTQ Center host not one but two signing events!

Marcy was featured in the author's series of "Talks@" through the always generous love and support of Bradley & Monica. Stay tuned for details about when you can watch her incredible talk, complete with probing questions from the Google employees!

Zuzubean Press teamed up with the amazing Mr. Marshall to create the first workshop for counselors and mental health pros in the Seattle area. In this intimate, intense and ultimately enlighting afternoon, the Seattle audience got first hand expertise that they will be able to use to help their clients on the transition path.

Makario Sarzoso

Makario has been a supporter on the right coast since the publishing of "Getting Back To Me," and when opportunity arose, hosted Scottie for signing and reading in the big apple last June.

Lee Myerhoff

Lee is a professor emeritus with several professional organizations, and secured us invitations to speak with nurses and counselors at SFVCMHC.

Mary Beth Eversole

Mary Beth helped promote both Scottie Jeanette's & Marcy's books via her cooking show "Allergy Actress Cooking" by having Scottie Jeanette as her guest. Scottie Jeanette made her version of Stanley Tucci's classic "The Big Night" Timpano, as they talked love, transgender rights and marinara... delicious!

Once again, Elayne and her team of superheroes brought Marcy & Scottie to Trans*Pride Seattle - this year Zuzubean Press had a booth at the event, sold books, and made several new friends and allies in the movement.

Dr. Michelle Moon

One of our dearest supporters had us speak to her clinical & abnormal psychology classes. And this got the Zuzubean Gals an additional invitation to speak at the LGBTQIA+ Media Symposium held during Pride Week!

JoAnna Curry-Sartori

Professor Curry-Sartori hosted our very first "webshop" for her social work students - submitting the students' prequestions to Marcy & Scottie, so the discussion went deep fast, giving budding social workers and counselors a rare glimpse into an American marriage that has thrived amid monumental change.

And, as they say the list goes on, we could never be where we are without the amazing guidance and support of Dr. Shakti Butler. We are always carried through our travels by the loving arms of Indira Kiehl, Karl "Withakay" Hanold and our everloving Auntie ji Linda Mikkelsen and the generous support of Jeff & Jo Martin. And we can never forget the doggy sitting when the mommies go on the road that Macky provides (thanks Macky!). We also had skype conversations (Thanks Priscilla!) and living room readings (thank you Laura!) with local book clubs.

Connecting - that's the name of the game, connecting over whatever means necessary, is our mantra for the new year. We promise to continue to "get out there" and put a face, and more importantly our hearts, on Light, Laughter, & Love in 2018...

And we hope to do it with you!
