Make a difference!
Dear Friends,
We are in a crucial time where discrimination, bigotry, and fear still prevail in our country and the rest of the world.
This discrimination applies especially to the transgender world which is still very misunderstood and often misrepresented. Trans people face deep humiliation and even violence.
The disturbing figures go on and on, and transgender people live in fear of violence and losing the protections that are supposed to be guaranteed by our state and federal constitutions.
While some anti-discrimination laws have been passed, many are in danger of being repealed, and human rights hang in the balance: Over 100 bills designed to dismantle current anti-discrimination laws are in state legislatures across the country! We have a long way to go. Some religious and political groups who support discrimination are very vocal and very powerful.
Raising Consciousness about Transgender Issues and Love
We, Scottie and Marcy Madden, are here to tackle these issues of discrimination head on.
We write and talk about transgender issues from our personal experience.
We address the fears and concerns directly; we give a face and a voice to what it means to be transgender, why it took 50 years for Scottie to come out as a trans woman, and how a marriage can survive the many challenges that can come from a change as big as this one.
We meet with people and use broadcast and social media to raise awareness. When we connect with people, it helps to dissolve their concepts of other..
Our Mission:
We are in a crucial time where discrimination, bigotry, and fear still prevail in our country and the rest of the world.
This discrimination applies especially to the transgender world which is still very misunderstood and often misrepresented. Trans people face deep humiliation and even violence.
- 75% of 2015’s hate crimes were against trans women
- 41% of transgender people say they have considered suicide
- 21% of relationships survive after one of the partners comes out
- 38 states still allow gender discrimination.
The disturbing figures go on and on, and transgender people live in fear of violence and losing the protections that are supposed to be guaranteed by our state and federal constitutions.

Our Impact to Date
Our work began late last year with the publication of Scottie’s book, “Getting Back To Me,” from girl to boy to woman in just 50 years.
Since the book’s release, we’ve already had measurable impact and accomplished many things:
Public Speaking Events—over 400 participants to date
Online Events
We want to do more to raise consciousness and create a safer, more loving world for transgender people and their families.
The time for change is now. And we are that change! It’s time to fight, and we have the tools to fight gender discrimination. We are helping people going through similar circumstances, and we help educate the broader public by sharing our personal story.
Over and over, we hear how our experience, perspective and love have illumined people’s minds, shifted their awareness and warmed their hearts. Here is one share:
“Nowhere in the transgender conversation in the media has anyone been able to express the many many layers and complexities the journey to living the truth is really like.”
This is an invitation to you to help fund our work.
We want this to be our full-time focus. We want to expand on the work we have already started on our own. The opportunities are plentiful! There is so much more we can accomplish with your help.
We have reached about 2,000 people in just a few months. Let’s go for 20,000 or more! With your help we will.
Our current goal is $95,000.
These funds will provide for the two of us to focus our attention fully on our mission.
This will cover overhead and operating expenses for the year—office and utilities, publishing, printing, distribution costs, travel and accommodations when not provided by clients, studio expenses, consultants, etc.
And Marcy is in the process of writing her own book about this journey from her point of view—something that people have asked for time and again.
Please help us reach our goal!

- Scottie is signed as a keynote speaker with BigSpeak Speakers Bureau
- We are continuing to book future events
- On June 24th, we’ll be speaking at the Town Hall Seattle and other venues and corporations around Seattle.
Online Events
- We have the Zuzubean Press website as well as a Facebook page.
- We launched six free video blogs (vlogs) on our website and Facebook.
- The vlogs are designed to go deeper into our story as a couple using Scottie’s book as the source of our topics.
- The vlogs have been viewed and shared over 300 times so far, and we will continue to post a new one every week.
