Scottie Jeanette & Zuzubean Press featured in Voyage LA...
MARCY & SCOTTIE "TELEPRESENT" to MSW COHORT
Technology to the rescue! MSW candidates at Central Connecticut University invited Zuzubean Press's Founding Authors into their class for a 2 hour seminar on transgender marriage and acceptance, via skype. This engaging and inspiring conversation dug deep into students's most pertinent questions regarding Marcy & Scottie's transition. "By sharing our own personal journey in a no-holds-barred frank discussion, we hope to hep the professional therapeutic community - this next generation of Therapists and councilors - to better serve our community, said Marcy. "The current guidelines for the MSW degrees require on average 5 hours of study with LGBTQ community. That's an hour per community, for those of you doing the math. Any opportunity we can get to help these amazing angels get a better insight to the care and feeding of unicorns, Zuzubean will rush in," said the more prone to hyperbole Scottie. Associate Professor, Joanna Curry-Sartoi has been a huge supporter and fan of our for years, and we love rolling up our sleeves to help her help her students. One student wrote of the experience, "seeing you both discuss the personal struggles and achievements regarding coming out/accomodating transgender identification helped me see my futiure cliemts as living preathing human being that seeks not just professional help but human compassion. Genuine human beings rater than case studies."
Gosh. Nuff said. If you'd like to schedule Marcy & Scottie to come to via skype to your class, organization, group, (we've even done book clubs!) click the "Sign Me Up" button ----------------------------------------------------> |

Zuzubean Press and VERY special guest speakers celebrate NCOD with the students, faculty and staff of San Diego City College

The Panel was a near perfect representation of the various colors of our beloved rainbow flag, as 7 out and proud speakers icluding a professor and a student from SDCC helped shed light on living in the LGBTQIA+ community, through 2 workshops. The morning session, titled "How to Run With Unicorns" The Queer world explained... was a lively introductory workshop that took on pronouns, labels and R-E-S-P-E-C-T. With unflinching candor and humor. The afternoon session, "Raise It Up! Creating and fostering an inclusive, creative, and professional environment despite having Title IX protections dismantled before our very eyes..." Had the weightier theme, but was no less courageous and heartfelt. It was as The sponsor, World Culture's Program's Director Elizabeth Meehan exclaimed, "Beyond her wildest hopes in the success department." We were honorored to be called upon to not only present but to design the entire workshop, and Marcy & Scotte were extremely grateful for the work and dedication of Dr. Mitzen Okada Black, Joshua Gershick, Dr. Allison Taur, Professor Shane Haggart, and Elijah Warren .
