Love Courage and Comittment ~ a story who's time has come.
By Patricia on November 30, 2015
Scottie has written an passionate true love story. Her struggle is revealed with humor, bare raw emotion and the deep burden of what is is like to live a lie each day of her life. This is not an easy accomplishment and Scottie has done it with perfection. No where in the transgender conversation in the media has anyone been able to express the many many layers and complexities the journey to living the truth is really like. A love story of another, of self and of Self. The beautiful unfolding takes us to the depth of friendship, remarkable marriage and the birth of a new version of a human life. Marcy, Scottie's beloved wife is remarkable and compassionate beyond compare. This is a story of stellar courage and commitment and this is only the beginning of Scottie Madden.

"Riveting! Tragic hero turns triumphant heroine. If you believe love conquers all, this book will inspire you to go for more of THAT. Formidable, fearless, lively, and, above all, charmingly fun. Scottie, a Hollywood "survival show" show runner, brings you safely along with her to the outer edges of anyone's ability to confront dangerous private truths...takes you on a wild ride overlooking the breathtaking canyons of the soul of a woman."

"Ms. Madden Knows How to Tell a Story Completely compelling -- I could barely put it down -- well-told, smart, funny book. Such a positive window into the story of a one person becoming more deeply herself. It is also a love story that is honest, rich, and beautiful. Please know you are going to love it, it's a book where the wisdom and love are given their day -- and that's never easy. But it IS truly soul-deepening. Go ahead, and trust Scottie! I did, and I'm sure glad." AMAZON REVIEW BY Nick Ingram
"Buckle Up! Scottie's book is a revelation, and a love story. Her exuberance about life jumps off the page and the reader is taken on a wild, headlong ride to clarity and the power of love, with a side of extreme survival show maneuvers both in front of and behind the camera." 5.0 out of 5 starsThroughout this love story.

Throughout this love story . . .no, this adventure, no, this mystery, no, this intimate expose of self-discovery, I am enthralled by the suspense, the intrigue, and, OK, yes, even the humor that unfolds before my eyes as I grapple with the emotional roller-coaster the author describes.
I am captivated. Superb writing brings tears to my eyes, makes me smile inside, makes my palms sweat, makes my heart ache ...
Here's a taste:
"He stands for a moment as if frozen in midair. His lip trembles. A tear crawls from one eye, catches the faint available light, runs down his cheek. 'Mylove,' he stammers, 'I ... don't know who I am ...'
"That was the last coherent sentence I uttered, as a tsunami of over 40 years of confusion, pain and what I would later learn as denial, flooded from my mouth, threatening to wash away Mylove, our marriage and hope forever."
There is a myriad of lessons to be learned from this writing. It's one thing for someone to have such feelings and emotions, but it's another thing to share them with the world in such a vivid portrayal. Many will benefit from reading this book.

Such a great book written by a great woman. Scottie's insight, honesty, humor and vulnerabilities make this a truly wonderful book to enjoy. I have no doubt this book will serve to support others going through transition as well as create a "personal" experience of "knowing someone" who is/has gone through these life issues. This kind of experience helps us to feel less separate and creates connection that only benefits us all.

This is a beautiful, warm and humorous story of a woman finally having no choice but to live the life she knew, even as a child, she was born to live. She describes in great detail the emotional and physical processes, and false starts, that she went through as her path became choiceless. This book is a far cry from Caitlyn Jenner's producer-assisted story. This is truth - beautiful in all the joy and pain the author describes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A compelling and astounding journey
By J.L.on January 26, 2016
Format: Paperback
"Getting Back to Me", by Scottie Jeanette Madden, is an absolute must-read; a compelling and astounding journey of inner-exploration and self-reconciliation, which is relevant to both everyone and anyone. Through her witty, charismatic and incredibly insightful, diary-style account; Scottie presents this epic tale of 'a soul in the wrong wrapping paper' with such unflinching honesty, that you won't perceive 'gender' in the same way, ever again.
From the very first moment; Scottie's beautiful, brave and magnetic personality jumps right off every page: I could just not put this book down. As 'he' becomes 'she', it's the tiny details and revealing observations which make it such a vibrant read; full of poignant moments woven throughout a rich tapestry of human relationships. Scottie not only survives her awe-inspiring journey, but also thrives in this new world; helped by supporting, loving family and friends who flex, fix and re-weave around her in spun-gold.
Our friend Scottie - the artist, the producer, the author - intrepidly shines a blazing spotlight of truth through the layers; to show clearly and triumphantly that what really matters is, of course, love. This book is a complete inspiration, particularly to anyone who feels restricted by society, or the expectations, limitations or pressures we place on ourselves; the roles we all play - it might just make you wonder to yourself - 'what will you do now with the gift of your left life'?
